Description
Fender produced the Elite series from 1983 to 1985 and these basses are extremely rare and collectable. The Elite series featured many innovations not available on other bass guitars at that time. It has special elite split noise-cancelling pickups with alnico 2 magnets and active TBX tone bass circuit. The active Fender pre amp offers the full tonal range from fat and heavy bottom end to an almost glass like top end. The bass will provide all the classic Precision Bass sounds as well as all the sounds that a Musicman Stingray can produce and more. These are ideal for direct recording to a desk or into Logic or Pro tools.
The body is made of premium selected ash with a high gloss finish with a rosewood neck. The neck is made to the original 1957 Precision Bass specifications so it has the soft V profile. The neck features Fenders famous bi flex truss rod system and attaches to the body with four bolts and has micro-tilt adjusters. The bridge is Fenders high mass micro tuner made by Schaller. This is simply the best bass bridge ever made as it allows ultra-fine tuning. The tuners are Fender M type which was made by Schaller and gives very accurate and stable tuning.
The bass is in totally mint condition and you will not find a nicer 33 year old bass. The frets show minimal wear and are in perfect condition. The bass has no buckle rash on the back as over the years I have always removed my belt when playing. The white pick guard has aged to a slight minty green colour. The knobs have been changed to chrome Precision Bass type, I will include the original knobs with this bass and a Fender thumb rest has been added.
Sound wise this bass will provide every sound that you will ever need from very deep dub style to bright percussive Funk. The Elite basses are like having a Musicman Stingray on steroids with a really low noise pre amp. They sound wonderfully open and transparent something that most active bass pre amps do not do. The bass is very easy to use live as the tone control dials in the amount of bass and treble response making setting up your sound very easy indeed. This is easily the most versatile bass that I have ever owned and over the years it has been my main recording bass. The bass come with the original Fender abs case
