1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom Natural with Gold hardware with Original Case

This 1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom is nicknamed “Ronno” as it is finished in natural with Gold hardware with Ebony finger board. On seeing Mick Ronson with David Bowie I knew that I wanted play guitar. Gibson did not make that many natural Les Paul customs and this is without doubt one of the best vintage Les Paul’s that I have owned

This 1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom is finished in natural with Gold hardware with Ebony finger board.

This guitar is nicknamed “Ronno” as it is named after Mick Ronson as it resembles his Les Paul Custom that he used with David Bowie and the spiders from mars. Mick Ronson’s sound and image is was what really started my interest in guitar playing. The guitar was made in Gibson Kalamazoo factory in the USA in 1976 and is in excellent condition. The guitar features a three piece maple top which is bonded on a two piece Honduras mahogany body. The neck is made from three piece maple and has a real ebony finger board.

This Original Les Paul has a very low action and low profile frets and this is exceptional as it really plays itself. The frets are in excellent condition and the neck is straight and is very comfortable to play. The white binding has aged to a nice cream colour over the years the top has a nice golden hue. The Gold on the pickup covers and hardware has slight wear on the top side. This Les Paul Custom and has slight worming on the back with slight wear which can be seen in the photo’s. The guitar also has a few chips and dings that have happened over the years but nothing that is out of the ordinary. This guitar is very light for a custom weighing just 10.8 lbs which makes it very easy to play on long gigs.

Mick Ronson’s original Les Paul was a black 1968 Les Paul Custom which some stories suggest that he stripped the top to increase its high end response. When you plug this guitar through a Marshall amplifier this guitar produces real harmonic top end that will cut though any live mix. It has a creamy sustain with excellent midrange clarity which is what makes  this a great Rock guitar. The guitar has had the nut upgraded and straplocks added but other than that is completely as it left the factory in 1976. This early Les Paul which is only 8 years after Gibson re introduced the guitar in 1968 is an exceptional playing and sounding guitar. A guitar that will please both dedicated payer and collector.  The guitar comes with the original Gibson case.
