The Gibson Les Paul is my favourite guitar by a long way, used by all the guitarist that I admire and used on all the classic rock anthems that I listened to as a kid. I have been fortunate enough to play many Les Paul over the years and have been fortunate enough to pick out some jems. These jems I have now listed here. Gibson, however seem to have lost their way in recent years, changing the woods, changing the features, for example who wants a Les Paul custom with a richlite fingerboard ?
All my Les Paul are superb playing and sounding instruments that have been well cared for and maintained.This is one of the main reason I could not send my collection to a store. I would be mortified, as some of those people who have done this have not been happy with the condition that their instruments have been returned to them in.
All my guitars are resonant and are light weight and sound excellent when played acoustically. My collection has taken a life time to build and have given me hours of joy but now is the time to move some of these on. My collection consists of some great playing Les Paul Standards and Customs and what Thin Lizzy fan could not have a super Gibson Les Paul Deluxe in his collection. My other Gibson’s Include a Firebird V as I think these are the coolest looking guitars on the planet. My Gibson SG with P90 pickups is a special edition model which pays tribute to Pete Townsend who has taken songwriting to a new level with Tommy and Quadraphonia and a live guitar sound on Live at Leeds that is superb.
