Description
2001 Gibson Firebird V has all the features that you would want from a Firebird V and is in 100% original and in as new condition. I bought this guitar as I am a big Stones & Faces fan and I loved the look of Ronnie Wood and Brian Jones with their original Firebird V.
The guitar was made in Gibson Nashville factory in the USA in 2001 and features a solid mahogany body with neck-through construction. The neck is made up of five pieces of mahogany interspersed with four narrow strips of walnut for added strength. Rosewood finger board with the 22 frets in as new condition we no playing wear. Firebirds have a 24.75″ scale and this guitar is finished in Vintage sunburst and comes with chrome hardware. The bridge is a Tune-O-Matic which makes for an easy and quick replacement of strings. The guitar also has the classic banjo tuners(unlike the modern Firebirds), trapezoid inlays and high output passive mini-humbuckers. The neck is straight with a very low fast action and this guitar is super light weighing just 8.28 lbs.
This guitar is in as new condition with virtually no wear and the mini humbuckers gives it a great clear treble with a warm midrange punch. The guitar really has bags of sustain from legendary Firebird “neck–through” construction. This when combined with the bite and clarity of the mini humbuckers make this a fantastic blues guitar.I now understand why Johnny winter made the Firebird his main guitar. I love the sound of a Les Paul but the Firebird has a really crunchy sound that works really well on power chords but excels when playing jangley guitar parts.I have therefore used this guitar mainly at home as it is an excellent guitar for sitting down and strumming. It records really well but when you put it through a decent amp it simply comes to life. This is simply the coolest looking guitar that Gibson ever made in my opinion but what is without doubt this is a great rock guitar and comes with the original Brown pink lined case.
