Description
This 1997 PRS Custom 24 is one of my favourite guitars and when you look over this guitar you could quite easily feel that you were looking at a new guitar. This guitar has all the desirable features. It has the PRS locking wing tuners and beautiful abalone Bird inlays. The body has a 10 quilted top which looks stunning in the ruby finish. This is definitive PRS guitar using the highest grade mahogany for the body and neck with small heal. This combined with the PRS HFS Treble and Vintage Bass pickups and this is simply one of the best sounding guitars that I own. These PRS pickups I think are wonderful as they suit all styles of music and really Rock.
The neck profile is same as the original PRS guitars which is was called Standard. The neck has a round neck shape that is 1/32 narrower and not quite as thick front to back as the Wide Fat neck. This for me is the most comfortable neck profile and combined with the 24 medium jumbo frets make this guitar a dream to play. Pickups are the legendary HFS Treble in the neck and Vintage Bass in the bridge. I have upgraded the strap buttons to straplocks on the guitar.
What drew me to this guitar was it stunning looks as it has a beautiful quilted maple ’10’ top Which looks amazing under lights. It has that old classic mahogany Gibson look that looks right in my opinion. I am not a pro photographer and I feel that the pictures do not do it justice. The bird Inlays are multi coloured which also look stunning close up. This guitar has the 5 way rotary switch which provides a superb range of sounds and has the PRS Tremolo. Sound wise this guitar supplies all the right sounds from delicate Strat single coil tone to full on humbucking rock and all roads In between. This guitar plays as stunningly as it looks.
