Description
1977 Fender Jazz Bass finished in sunburst with a black guard and rosewood neck with block inlays. The finish shows very minimal playing wear and has no un sightly chunks out of the finish. It has only minimal scuffs on the front of the body and has no buckle rash marks on the rear of the body as I have been very careful with this bass, you could say it’s my pride and joy. On the neck plate the finish has a small area where it has gone through to the finish and the bass has a few scuffs and marks on the rear which you can see in the photos. The neck has one chip in the lacquer at the rear of the 3 fret but this does not affect playability and is completely smooth. The white binding and the headstock has aged to a nice vintage honey colour. The frets show minimal wear and are in perfect condition. The neck is straight with a very low fast action and is very comfortable to play. The body is made from ash which I have always favoured for my bass guitars for one simple reason; due to the wood density it has better sustain characteristics.
Sound wise this bass sounds amazing no matter which amplifier system you put it through, from big valve amps to Trace Elliot mosfet designs or modern class D stages you will get the real classic punchy Jazz Bass sound. This bass has all the Jazz Bass tone, the growl from this bass is fantastic with both pickups and tone up full this is one of only a handful of Jazz Basses that really do cut through the mix due to a very transparent top end. The midrange punches through the mix adding warmth, and the bottom end on this Jazz Bass is both tight and deep. The other big plus is that with the bridge pick up only on you get a great growling Funk tone. If you are playing Rock and Blues with the neck pick up backed off slightly you get a really fat pumping Rock sound.
This bass is both easy to play and sounds good with either a pick or finger style .Once you play this Jazz Bass you will understand why this had been one of my main basses as this is one of the best Jazz Basses I have owned. So if you are looking for a GREAT Jazz Bass then this is the one.
