Description
1985 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black with Gold hardware with Ebony finger board. This guitar is nicknamed “Robbo 1” as it is named after Brain Robertson of Thin Lizzy’s Black Les Paul Custom that he used on the Live and Dangerous tour of 1978. I remember become very dissatisfied with my Shaftsbury Les Paul copy after seeing them live and playing my first Les Paul custom in London’s Denmark street shortly after made me realise that I need to save up for one of these.
The guitar was made in Gibson Nashville factory in the USA in 1985 and is in excellent condition with a very fast Ebony finger board. This Original Les Paul has a very low action and low profile frets. It is made from Honduras mahogany and has a real ebony finger board. The frets show a small amount of wear and are in excellent condition. The neck is straight with a very low fast action and is very comfortable to play. The white binding has aged to a nice cream colour over the years and the guitar is very resonant. The Gold on the pickup covers and hardware is not worn or faded and looks pristine.
This Les Paul Custom and has slight worming on the back of the guitar despite me being very careful and has a few chips and dings that has happened over the years but nothing that is out of the ordinary. This guitar is very light for a custom weighing just 10.76.lbs which makes it very easy to play on long gigs. Sound wise this guitar does what a Les Paul Paul Custom does best and sounds big and crunchy. It has a huge sustain and a very nice treble clarity which makes it a great Rock guitar. The guitar is completely standard as it left the factory and 100% original. This guitar has the original Grover machine heads which I have found to be the best over the years and common on Gibson’s of this era.The guitar comes with the original abs Black Gibson case.
