Description
1978 Fender Precision Bass in the original natural finish with a maple neck. This bass is totally original and is well cared for and provides the perfect Precision Bass sound. This bass has a punchy Motown James Jamerson style tone with the tone rolled off with a bright Funky and percussive tone with the treble full on.
The bass is made from lovely grained premium grade ash body. Fender always kept the highest grade and most attractive woods for the natural finishes throughout this era. I have always favored ash for my bass guitars for one simple reason; due to the wood density it has better sustain characteristics. This bass is also light, weighing just 9.14 lbs. The maple neck has no unplayable chips or dings in the neck and the skunk stripe has never lifted. The frets show minimal wear and are in perfect condition.
The neck is straight with a very low fast action and is very comfortable to play. The neck is classic C profile width at the nut is 1 .65 inches and at the 12th its: 2.2 inches. The bass is totally mint condition or as some dealers have said highly collectable as it comes with both original covers, thumb rest, original manual and hanging tags.
When played this bass has a really full and resonant sound as it is very easy to set the sound up for a wide variety of musical styles, I doubt that you will find a nicer 38 year old bass, indeed I have not found one over the years. This bass has no buckle rash on the back of the body and does not have any chips or dings so really this bass must be seen. This is one great looking, playing and sounding Precision Bass that will certainly only increase in value over the years. The bass comes with the original black Fender case, both original covers, thumb rest, original manual and hanging tags.
